Lilac Festival Returns This Sunday

It’s that time of the year again! The season is changing and the sun is shining down upon us! What better way to start off the festival season in Calgary than by attending the Lilac Festival this coming weekend!

The festival has been a constant occurrence in Calgary for over 20 years and it will be held again this Sunday, June 4th from 10 am to 6 pm, on 4th St SW (between 13th Ave & Elbow Drive).

Starting off as a small neighbourhood celebration in 1989 by the Cliff Bungalow/ Mission Community Association and 4th Street Business Revitalization Zone, the Lilac Festival has grown to now entertain over 80,000 people! In 2005, an estimate of 120,000 people attended and it was voted Calgary’s Best Free Festival in 2006.

Some things to look out for:
  • To start the day off there will be a parade at 10 am beginning on 25th Ave SW, along 4th St and finishing at 13th Ave SW.
  • To promote new and independent talent, different artists from across Canada and other countries including, Poland, Italy and Colombia, will be performing to world music throughout the day on the six stages located on 4th St.
  • Artisan vendors, food, electronics and many other business stalls will all be present for your enjoyment throughout the day.

Don’t miss out on any of the fun this weekend! We’ll see you all at the Lilac Festival on Sunday!
