Yesterday 9to5Google released a report speculating on a new feature that will allow Instagram users to publish hour-long videos.
Well today, various sources are confirming this new add-on that will let Instagram compete with the likes of Snapchat Discover and YouTube.
Although Instagram already allows users to post and watch video clips on their feeds, they still found that they were losing viewers to YouTube in order to get their full fix of video consumption.
To go up against some of their greatest competitors, Instagram is lying the groundwork for a hub that will showcase shows, music videos and content similar to that which is currently drawing their audiences away from them.
According to 9to5Mac “Instagram has reportedly been meeting with social media stars and content publishers to roundup launch partners for the feature, which is currently slated to launch on June 20th.”
Whether or not this new launch will be a hit remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be the first time Instagram successfully managed to outdo its competition.
