You couldn’t have asked for better weather to help kick off this year’s Lilac Festival in Calgary. All along 4th Street, artists, entertainers and various food stalls lined the streets to help welcome in the excited crowds.
This year the festival hosted over 500 vendors, giving Calgarians a chance to discover many different shops, restaurants, food trucks, entertainers, and organizations.
Each avenue had its own stage showcasing local talent ranging from bands of various genres to dance groups from all across the globe. Everywhere you looked there was so much to do and so much talent to appreciate. The art was absolutely amazing! There were various paintings, furniture and handcrafted accessories and bags to peruse through.
However, my absolute favourite part of the entire festival had to be all the food! There was everything ranging from your traditional hamburgers, pizza, the classic mini-donuts, and poutine to international dishes such as, Chilean empanadas, Mexican-style corn and Shawarma. The lemonade trucks had absolutely crazy line-ups, however, people seemed more then willing to wait in order to enjoy a fresh drink on such a hot day.
All in all, a great way to start off the month and to spend a Sunday afternoon. Can’t wait for Lilac Festival 2018!
