Are You Making the Right First Impression?

I’ve done quite a few posts so far. And with each one, I continue to ask myself, “what’s the point of putting effort into what you wear everyday?” I plan on giving you folks my thoughts on this question, hopefully providing some insight on how important your public image actually is. You may agree, you may not. Like I said, this is my personal reflection. Compare it to yours and see if works out. If not, continue wearing your Crocs… I’m not judging.

Your style depends solely on who you are, and what you’re comfortable with. Remember, people notice what you’re wearing before anything else. Yeah, pressure, I know. I don’t want someone to see me and think I don’t take care of myself. Whether it’s in a suit, or a casual style like jeans or joggers, I always make sure the outfit is on point. First impressions are important. Job interviews, meeting new people, even getting a first date! So many situations occur during your day that you just don’t anticipate. Looking your best, in whatever style it may be, can change the way that first impression goes.

First, figure out what style suits you best. Are you the dapper gentleman in a suit and tie regularly, or can you look just as fly in jeans and a bomber? I understand each setting calls for a specific kind of outfit, are you able to wear it with confidence, knowing others will see you and think, “wow that guy has a bomb outfit!”

See, the point behind maintaining your outfit is so your peers see you as someone who takes care of themselves and understands that first impressions last a long time. More-so, you realize that when you look your best, you feel your best. It’s a shift in attitude. For example, when I put on a suit, as different as it may be (you can tell my style is kind of out there), I feel more confident, and my day feels more productive. Alternatively, I can leave the house in a t shirt, joggers and kicks, and feel just as confident. The key to this is attention to detail!

Every single day, I take it upon myself to dress better than the previous day. It is not as time consuming as you may think, because you can create a variety of outfits from just a few pieces. Your current wardrobe does not matter, so long as you continue to adapt your style to something new more often. On my end, I will endeavor to do my best to provide you with more tips and ideas for a variety of different styles and outfits, so that you may be able to go out and blow people away!
