Today marks the day that Calgary’s first ever Cat Cafe will open their doors to receive the public. Kevin and Tia Wieler, after months of planning and anticipation, are ready to welcome cat and animal lovers in to the Regal Cat Cafe, based in Kensington, where customers can pay to spend time with kittens!
Whether you come in for a cup of coffee and some cat inspired snacks, local sourced cat souvenirs, or to pay a visit to the furry little friends, everyone is welcome!
After being inspired from an episode off of The Amazing Race, The Wieler’s were struck with the desire to open up a Cat Cafe here in Calgary.
“Both Vancouver and Edmonton already have cafe’s like this open for people to enjoy, we wanted Calgarians to have the same opportunity available to them,”
“Both Vancouver and Edmonton already have cafe’s like this open for people to enjoy, we wanted Calgarians to have the same opportunity available to them,” Wieler shared with us when he explained the desire behind opening up the cafe.
Partnering with the Meow Foundation, Regal works to provide a soothing environment inside the Kitty Kingdom where up to 16 people can interact with all the kittens that are currently calling the cafe home. Customers that find themselves falling in love with the animals have the option of potentially adopting one through the Meow Foundation and taking it home on their appointed adoption days.
So whether it’s just to meet up with some friends over a cup of coffee, or because you’re seeking some much needed cuddling from a loving ball of fur, head on over to the Regal Cat Cafe this week and get your dose of cuteness!
