Ep. 007 – Marty Park on overcoming common mistakes as an entrepreneur, crafting elevator pitches and listening to understand.

“Limits are self-imposed.” -Marty Park

Entrepreneur: the first word that comes to mind when one gets the opportunity to meet Marty Park. Locally based here in Calgary, Marty has quite the impressive resume under him from his years of experience. Among other things, he is the recipient of The Business Coach of the Year Award (2003) for both Canada and the United States, The Mentor of the Year Award for Futurpreneur (2006) and has been listed under Calgary’s Top 40 Business Professionals under 40 list (2004).

Over the last 24 years Marty has owned and run 13 different companies, starting with his first when he was only 21 years old. Sitting down with Marty this week we got to pick his brain on what it was like for him to drop out of school with only one year left in his program, and pursue entrepreneurship for himself instead. He shared with us what his experiences have been like over the years with the multitude of different opportunities that he has been exposed to.

Today, Marty is the proud president and founder of Evolve Business Group, a company that focuses on coaching and training for companies that are looking to enhance their performance and business growth. From training the staff, to the proper implementation of strategies, Evolve aims to assist business owners and executives in reaching their business goals. We got the chance to ask Marty a myriad of questions surrounding entrepreneurship and what being a business owner really looks like for him. There was so much to learn from this one meeting alone and we hope you get as much value from this podcast as we did!
